چکیده
This paper evaluates the effects of a conditional cash transfer (CCT) on antenatal consultations in Senegal. We conduct non-experimental and quasi-experimental evaluations, which control group is constructed using propensity score matching method. While approach alone does not allow to conclude impact CCT, reveals that CCT significatively increases beneficiaries. The combination evaluations has potential offer evaluation social policies cost-effective way, existing information, such as administrative data already-collected survey data.

Do Conditional Cash Transfers Improve Economic Outcomes in the Next Generation? Evidence from Mexico∗
Conditional cash transfer programs have spread to over 80 countries in the past two decades, but little is known about their long-term effects on the youth they target. This paper estimates the impact of childhood exposure to the Mexican program Progresa on economic outcomes in early adulthood by leveraging the age structure of program benefits and geographic variation in early program penetrat...
متن کاملDo conditional cash transfers influence migration? A study using experimental data from the Mexican PROGRESA program.
Prior research on Mexican migration has shown that social networks and economic incentives play an important role in determining migration outcomes. We use experimental data from PROGRESA, Mexico's primary poverty-reduction program, to evaluate the effects of conditional cash transfers on migration both domestically and to the United States. Our study complements a growing body of literature ai...
متن کاملQuasi - Experimental Evaluations
OVERVIEW Although experimental studies are described as the “gold standard” for assessing the effectiveness of a program in changing outcomes, in some cases, quasi-experimental studies may be more feasible or appropriate. Many types of quasi-experimental studies are possible. For example, an implementation study can provide valuable information on whether, how, and for whom services are provide...
متن کاملBeyond cash: Assessing externality and behaviour effects of non-experimental cash transfers
In this paper we propose a method to estimate externality effects in cash transfer programmes, even in cases when the benefit is not randomly assigned. Externality is assessed through the decomposition of the average treatment effect on the treated (ATT) into participation (direct) effect and externality (indirect) effect. We also suggest a nonparametric decomposition to investigate whether cha...
متن کاملImpact of Conditional Cash Transfers
We carry out a systematic review of studies on CCTs that report maternal and newborn health outcomes, including studies from eight countries. We find that CCTs have increased antenatal visits, skilled attendance at birth, delivery at a health facility, and tetanus toxoid vaccination for mothers, and reduced the incidence of low birth weight. The programs have not had a significant impact on fer...
